True Confessions of a Babysitter

I started babysitting for parents in my neighborhood after I helped my sister watch my nephew as she worked multiple jobs. After that, I babysat for her friends and their friends. The pay was good; I was preparing for college and I needed the money for stuff. Oh, the things I did while babysitting? These are my true confessions.
I was young. Now, I older and preparing to have kids of my own and I’m scared of babysitters (and karma). I used to let the kids cry themselves to sleep, invite friends over and we would smoke and drink; we would give some kids sleeping medications (cough mixtures); belt others to baby’s car seats while we played video games.
The older kids, I bullied and blackmailed, send them to bed early so I can have time texting and calling my friends. They hated me. I didn’t care. I’ve moved out of the neighborhood but now every time I meet young strangers from that part of town, part of me still wonder if they were some of those kids.
I hope they have forgiven me because I don’t wish for a babysitter like me for my own kids.

Don't listen to the naysayers... I am a male, and used to babysit all the time as a teen (I'm 50 now). I always kept good care of the kids but once they went to sleep, I'd start looking for dad's titty mags and mom's panties and then I'd go in a two hour jerk fest . Damn I miss those days of free porn and panties!

This dosen't sound true, but this is really bad horrible thing to have done. I would think that karma would bring this back on you rather than on your children though.

I remember having a babysitter just like you while I was young. My more assertive sister learnt a lot from her, I think. She smoked, drank and passed lewd remarks boasting of her sexual escapades. The babysitter was indeed a bad influence and we would have gone down her path if we didn't know how she ended up. A teenage mother, she's now in her thirties and looked worse for the wear. Strangely, I don't hate on her. What I feel every time I meet her on the street is pity.

Dear Trixia, I think we can chalk up your past to youthfulness. It's really unfair to expect that a young, attractive girl can sit still through an evening watching kids. At that age, you want to go out and play and make friends and have men woo you. So many young babysitters don't give their wards enough attention and I don't suppose we can blame them. I would have done the same if I were in your shoes.
