Years ago I worked with one of those delusionally optimistic kind, the type to make you feel like he's insincere about being green and environmentally conscious. We'd pass around the occasional "that guy" joke, but nothing real bad. For months he was trying to get the place to recycle more, but no one was listening. Finally though, the base Captain heard about it and finally supported it. He pretty much started a base wide recycling program, and after a few months I looked around and saw it was highly successful. People were filling the recycling bins/trashcans with bottles and paper, even more than using regular trash. It taught all of us a good lesson about change, that even in the most cynical environments, never stop trying to better things.
