Its can be ironic that people who are depressed or very ill are prescribed medication which if taken in the wrong dose, can effectively kill you. Your mom likely has a very good reason why she's holding them. Clearly she's fears you will not take them properly or throw them away. You should discuss the matter with her as the previous poster said.
