fuji camera eats batteries

my fuji S3000 digital camera depletes a fresh set of 4 AA cells in 48 hours if left in the camera . I have talked to 5 others who have this model , and each have this problem . There is no method of turning the camera off completely . batteries must be removed after each useage.
