Providian Settles Class Action Suits Providian agreed to pay $105 Million to settle a cluster of class-action stuis that accused it of unlawful business practices in its sale of such add-n products as credit protection and credit-line increases to its credit card customers. Attorney Robert Green stated that over three million customers could be eligible for reimbursements under the settlement. While Providian did not admit any wrongdoing, it did issue a statement saying it hopes its many consumer disputes are history and pledge to cleaning up its marketing and customer service procedures. This took place in 2001. This is 2006, Providian knowingly that they had placed unauthorized charges on my credit card did not reverse the charges. They have compounded their charges with interest as high as 32.79%. I stopped using my card in 2002, they closed my account in 2005.
