Beware of Providian/Washington Mutual Credit Cards

Beware about accepting credit cards from Providian. Providian, being in association with Washington Mutual Bank will totally ruin your life if you miss a payment. Recently when I lost my family, I was devastated. I overspent my limit. I explained to providian's agents because they called me at all hours of the day, starting at 4:00 AM. I never stopped making my payments, I just did not have enough to cover the overage for a while. They responded by 1. Reporting me to the credit bureaus. 2. Sent me to collections. 3. Continued to call demanding payment. Threatened to garnish my wages. Raised my interest rate to 23%. Continued sending threatening letters. Continued to assess penalties. Who helped? Target Visa did. By transfering the overage to my target Visa I got rid of the calls and some of the letters. My advice, beware of Providian and Washington Mutual Credit. I went over, but never stopped making payments. I was in grief, asked for understanding and was reported and sent to collections. Beware.
