Wachovia reps seem to take pleasure in YOUR pain!

Today I was supposed to give my neighbors cash in order to purchase a wahser and dryer from them. My husband had just recieved a business check from Poineer Credit. Due to a mixup in his military allotment program, he wound up paying them twice. I took the check to the bank and began to deposit it over the counter because last time I deposited there they told me the funds were available immediately and I withdrew them. The check was for $113, I needed $150, I had $44 in my bank account. I told the teller I wanted to deposit the check and withdraw $150. The teller began to process my transaction and did both transactions together so my account wasn't updated with the $113 I wanted to deposit when the withdrawal was being processed. The teller asked for help from Mrs. A Jones a long haired blond woman. Mrs. A. Jones told me I couldn't have the money because the check was in my husband's name (both of our names are on the account, my husband's name was on the previous check I took to them). Mrs. Jones is viewing my account with the other teller as she speaks to me. I told her the last time I came in they said my funds were available immediately and let me take out the money. She told me that could not have happened. It did. I asked her if I could bring my husband in and have him deposit the check. I told them I needed the money TODAY. I asked them if the funds would be made available immediately If he deposited it, she said YES. This scenario made no sense to me (why did it matter who deposited the check??), but she was the bank worker and I wasn't. Defeated, I went home to get my husband. We arrive back at the bank and hour and a half later. She tells him the funds will not be available and he cannot even cash the check because the amount in the account $44 will not cover it. If you do not have an account with Wachovia, you can cash a check for $4. I know this because I have cashed checks with them before I was an account holder. Did she even offer my husband the opportunity to pay $4 dollars to cash the check? No. Essentially the understanding I gleam from this expereince is that a customer of Wachovia receives LESS service and access to thier hard earned cash than a NON customer. My husband could DIE while working to earn this money and they can't make up their minds how and when he can and can't have it. She was looking at my account when I was in the bank the first time... ...the teller informed her of why I couldnt withdraw $150 dollars due to the fact that she was processing the withdrawal and deposit at the same time while my account had $44 in it... Yet Mrs.Jones STILL took it upon herself to tell me that IF I BROUGHT MY HUSBAND who had his name on the check, he could get the $150 IMMEDIATELY that very day. Yet for some reason, when we returned to the bank it was so immediately obvious to her that he could not cash the check or get funds immediately upon depositing it. The bank was very crowded at this time and my husband told her that after all of this... after making me go all the way back to home to get him and come all the way back to the bank... she was going to cash the check... or he was going to cause a scene... he also notified her that he intended to close the account as well and pointed out to her that several people were in the bank at the moment opening new accounts... so it probably wouldn't be to Wachovia's benefit if those customers had to hear about all the problems we've had with Wachovia since day one. She said she would have to ask her manager and looked at the woman beside her (the manager) the manager told her to do it because she had overheard the conversation. So we got our money and we closed out the account and even received the extra 8 or so dollars we would have had left over in the account. We have had so many problems with Wachovia since the day we openened the account... I have only had a very few experiences when I didn't leave the bank feeling like I must be some kind of criminal. They have recieved THOUSANDS of dollars from us in the form of over draft fees alone. This bank can't even communicate its policies honestly to its customers or even agree consitently on what those policies are... the policies seem to be at their discretion. Once we called Wachovia to ask what their check cashing policy was and we were put on hold for nearly ten minutes after asking. Obviously we felt it was ridiculous that they couldn't answer this question in a more timely fashion, so we gave up and disconnected the call. When we asked over the phone (in a separate call) about availablilty from funds for checks deposited at the counter... they told us the funds were available the next day. When I was in a Wachovia branch at the counter depositing a check the teller told me the checks funds were always available immediately to account holders as soon as the teller received the check from the depositor. Wachovia has in the past charged us for OVERDRAFTS while we have had hundreds of dollas in the bank... In the strangest instance we had $280 in the account and one day I checked online, immagine my surprise see 3 overdraft fees in a row... but no overdrafts. When Wachoia was asked to do something about this their solution was to give us back $60 instead of the 3x$35 that the overdrafts cost us... they pocketed $45 from us because they made an error. There are so many things they've done to make our financial lives a living hell that I can't even remember them after today's experience... I am just glad and pray to God that our dealings with this awful corporate monster are over... But I don't doubt that we could be hit with random fees after closing this account. Fees that we will not be notified of until the fines are immense... I've heard of this happening to people who have banked with Wachovia before after account closings. The economic damages that result from living with an income that would be considered 'lower middle class' and banking with Wachovia are being piss-poor broke when you least expect it and need money most, giving hundreds of dollars to wachovia at a time, and also having moderate amounts of money leached away from you due to thier errors... all the while never being able to put anything away in savings... (They wonder why so many middle class Americans are drowning in debt... let me spell it out for you W-A-C-H-O-V-I-A. They're taking over everything!) Basically instead of being able to become more financially stable we have lost THOUSANDS. I'm sure our credit is ruined. You find yourself leaving the bank publicly humiliated and feeling like you've been bullied. Maybe you even feel like burning down your own home and jumping off a bridge just to end it all. Wachovia doesn't care... as long as the next direct deposit rolls in. Just remember to repeat the mantra... Wachovia doesn't care... Wachovia doesn't care... Don't leave angry, JUST CLOSE YOUR ACCOUNT! Your experience with Wachovia will NEVER improve if you find yourself getting by even a little better than paycheck to paycheck!
