I recently was approved for a home loan thru US BANK. I was preapproved a month and a half early and started paperwork and was ready to go for my closing date. My husband, I and our realtor were all told things were fine and they were actually working on two different types of loans and we would go with the best. Well a week before I am to close I hear there is some problem but she is going to talk to her boss and all will be well. I find out on Monday (we close on Thursday) that the banker only actually did one loan and errored on it. Therefore there may be some problems with our loan however no fear it will be fixed. They day before we close we hear the problem has been fixed how ever we will need to push back the closing time from the am to the pm. We ask are you sure we are going to close we are getting a moving truck tonight to put as much of our stuff in and we have HELP to do this:) Oh yes all is fine don't worry. Well the next day nothing, finally we get a call in the late afternoon saying we are not going to close. I was with out word until the tears began and the anger began. They promised over and over. At this time I have no cable, computer or phone as I was told I needed to transfer my service to my new home and take over the bills. So now the home I was in is sold and ready to be moved in to in about a week or so and I have no home to go to. The bank stated they are unsure of when a closing date will be but some time next week. No sorry or is there any thing we can do. This is a Thursday. We got a hold of Uhal and they told us to keep the truck this was at least one good thing as our realtor offered to pay for this until we closed and put us in a room. This was only after I lost my cool and cried like a little kid for the first time as an adult. Ouhhh the anger and unbelief. We were then informed we had to get our stuff out of the truck because Uhaul actually had it rented out quite a few times already. So in panic our realtor made up a deal that we could place our stuff in the garage of the home that we did not even own because of the bank. So that worried me what if these people get mad but who in the heck wants to re pack a UHAUL! WE are going to fight for our house! It's not like we were not approved the bank errored. So that evening my husband and family unpacked the truck in a hurry to have it back.I went to the store to buy shoes for work, paper plates and paper everything to eat on and with and some food for the cabinet. I figured it would be best for us ( husband, self, 2 and 14 year old to stay at the house for now because at least it would give us space and we had a stove, fridge and microwave we just needed food( all cabinet food was packed and in the garage to the house we did not own. Of course this stuff was put in the house so fast because of the situation with the truck and the only help we had at the time), stuff to make food. The fridge had the bare min. you know the don't go shopping because you are moving fridge. YES THAT WAS US. It was awful. So we fought it out and stayed. It was humourous waching static TV and camping? The next day we still received no call from the bank so we both went on a mission to find another company just in case. Yes we drove all over town and paid top dollar for copies of paperwork (tax) stuff that we normaly have at home.Then we bought another truck that weekend. this seems dumb but my husband was going on call that week for work and he would not be around leaving just me and a big bill when we hire professional movers. So we loaded what we could on our own on the second truck (different company) took it to the house that was not ours but we were paying the bills on it:) and unloaded. Monday, Tuesday no word from US BANK!!! How ever the new place that we ran around collecting everything we could for on Friday had all our paperwork ready and we would close Tuesday evening. YEAH! We closed, hired movers to move what we no longer had free help to move and got into our new home. I talked to a rep at US bank not to long ago. They asked me what my dollar amount was. I thought I will just make this easy and not try and rob them even though they put my childrens, husband and I lives in shambles and did not care a bit. I added the two unnessessary days my husband and I were off wok, the second truck only, our paper supplies we needed to have to eat (plate, napkins, forks, cup, ect..) the negotiated ten bucks that my phone bill went up from verizon. I left out the movers, the weeks worth of bills on the other home, and other little additions. 832 was the amount. Do you know they came back and told me they had 300 in loss because we did not close with them like they we were supposed too so they will give is 500. I said you are kidding I know 300 may not seem like a lot but this was my bottom dollar of expense and I was not going for nothing less. They lost 300 are you kidding me do you know what I just went through!!!. He said 500 or nothing. I said nothing I'll get a lawyer now I have to get a lawyer over something they know they did wrong. This is just the meat of what happened that feelings and tears are the worst part of it. The feeling of not having a home as yours is sold and you have no where to go is ... I'm speachless. I had a hard time as a kid and I worked my ass off like many others to get what I have and all of a sudden out of no where a big bank who could give a shit less about you and spoke to you with such disrespect can take it all away. I just want anyone who is willing to listen stay away from US BANK!!!!!!! Also my closing costs went from 4,000-6,000 to 15,000 with US BANK!! With the final company I had no choice but to come up with 17,000 or have no where for my family to live. Thanks for listening.
