Not that you really care, I still have to tell the story. United Postal Service blatantly does not support veterans. Seven years ago, my son did walk away from a temp job with UPS after a couple of weeks. He should not have done it, but that is sometimes just simple lessons of youth. Of course no one working at UPS ever made any errors in life. What my son didn't realize is that he is not eligible for rehire by UPS. Why? I do not believe it has to do with what was basically quitting UPS seven years ago. During the seven year interim, this young man went to school for EMT certification and drove ambulances. He then joined the U.S. Army for four years. He served in Iraq for 15 months as a medic with the Scout platoon of the 1st Armored Division.. He had combat experiences. He is now attending college under the GI Bill. He is looking for part time work around his class schedule. Such as night work. Such as UPS has.But UPS says he was fired seven years ago. I do not believe that their reason for not considering him for hire has anything to do with a seven year old termination of employment. It is in fact the beginning of something that is about to repeat itself. That is to say that the Iraq war is the fault of those who went there and performed honorably. Oh? you say that can't happen. It did happen. I am one of the individuals that know why the Civil Rights Act of 1962 had to be amended to include 'status as a Viet Nam veteran' . And now here it comes again, ever so suttle, and covert. Unspoken and unwritten. But UPS's actions are loud and clear. And I am sure that the rest of the blame mongers will follow suit in the degradation of our soldiers and veterans. The U in the logo is for uncaring.
