Tyranical managers, stupid corporate politics

I have never in all my life dealt with such an assinine boss as the current store manager at the Scarborough Rite Aid in Scarborough, Maine. As if the low wages aren't bad enough, this guy that has been charged to run the store is completely unreasonable. He's threatened to fire me or anyone for calling out even if that call out is legitimate and has a doctor's consent. He's rude to customers yet if he hears anyone so much as sound slightly sacrcastic, they are threatened. He rules by fear and the Pharmacy people have referred to him as a despot. I need to make a formal complaint to HR but I really don't think that will go anywhere. Rite Aid has a saying: Raptar: Respect, Appreiciate, Praise, Treats Associates Respectfully. Well, I feel like throwing my Raptar card in his face and telling him that's how much respect he commands. He's rediculous. I would like to give out his name, but I don't think that's probably allowed, so I'll call him James, oh that is his first name. He's rude, shifty, and just makes it an unspleasant place to work at, which I think may be his plan to get people to leave, so I'm hanging tough until I find something else. The bottom line is, yes attitude is everything, but I'm so sick of all of the fear and stupid politicking that goes on in the corporations that we as people have allowed ourselves to become enslaved to just pay the bills, or make money, and my case is barely enough to get by on. Well, there's my ranting and raving. If anyone has any advice I'd appreciate it.
