This is my complaint in the form of the email I sent below to Toys'R'Us Guest Relations, after speaking with their In-Store Clerks. Dear Sir or Madam, On 25July, 2006 I purchased a gift card for $50.00. I later decided to buy a gift and to return the gift card to Toys R Us for the full refund to my credit card. I was advised that without the original receipt, I could not get a refund. I've torn apart my home and STILL can't find the receipt, but I do have a receipt from my bank of the transaction. I would like to know if I can bring this in to your store in order to get my refund. I tried to explain to the sales agent that I did not want the cash in hand and I had all of the proper ID. I was told no exceptions. Now I have a gift card that I have absolutely no use for. Could you PLEASE give an authorization for my bank receipt to act as proof of this purchase? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you, (My Name) And this is the response that I received. Dear (My Name), Thank you for contacting Toys 'R' Us. I apologize for the inconvenience this has caused you. Upon further research you must have the original receipt from the store. If we can be of any further assistance please contact us at 1-800-toysrus. Thank you, once again, for contacting the 'R' Us Family. Sincerely, Toys 'R' Us Guest Relations Team Now Iam stuck with a $50.00 gift card that I will NEVER use since I will NEVER shop at another Toys'R'Us again!!! And to top it off I read on another complaint website that the card will expire in 2years! What a rip-off!!!
