Population. Why is it such an unpopular notion in this country to suggest that there are quite enough people; that the considerate, humane, responsible thing to do is to limit your family to 2 children? Yeah, there's enough food (not everyone gets enough) there is still plenty of open space to construct housing - but why the hell should we be spreading out so much? The Ohlone indians lived in one small part of California for over 5 thousand years - they knew that the land could continue to sustain them if they did not become too many. What the hell is wrong with us?
