Supposedly 'Free' products and services

I've had it! I'm up to HERE with free this and that!! IT AIN'T FREE! Oh sure it's 'free for $1 S/H. Or it's 'free' for $5 dollars, or more, S/H. Or it's 'free' for those who BUY this or that which is AUTOMATICALLY SHIPPED to you. You can get a 'free' $50 value personality profile from a kindly gentleman who runs a sure-fire-dating-site, except it's WORTHLESS: People can't contact you, and you can't contact them UNLESS YOU FORK OVER BIG BUCKS! You can get a 'free' credit report for $30. Another kindly gentleman, who also advertizes on TV, will give you a 'free' computer lesson on anything you want. Yeah. Right. You have to turn around and send it right back to him - before you've had a chance to digest it - unless you sign up for the whole shootin' match of the very things you WEREN'T interested in, and didn't ask for in the first place - at $29 a disc! This is the one that frosts my cake: I recently received a catalog that proudly proclaimed on the front page: 'Free shipping on every item in this catalog.' In the back of the catalog, in fine print, we find out that the shipping and handling charges have been SEPARATED, and the handling charges have been MORE THAN DOUBLED, so that the cost of anything that you ordered would be MORE than if the old shipping and handling prices had been charged! Don't tell me anything abot 'free' I CAN'T AFFORD IT! Arrrg!!!
