Sham and rudeness

BC Wide Carpet and Furnace Cleaning Ltd. Located Vancouver, BC Here is my complaint. I have a condo just under 1000 sq feet. It has cream colored carpet and through the years has been stained. Some from me some from other people. I thought I would get them cleaned, just to....well have them cleaned. I did not expect all the stains to come out anyways. I called BC wide and they gave me a quote. $79 to clean them, just the average cleaning shampoo and what not. Nothing special. So upon arrival 2 men bring their machine up walk in and ask to see the carpet. Then one of them men says he cant clean it for $79 he needs to specail treat the stain and put some sort of coating or finish on them to remove them. He told me that would be almost $300. Well since it was early in the morning and I was kind of shocked. Not that I wouldn't pay that to get my carpets cleaned, but that there was no mention about a $220 mark up. So I said no can I just get it shampooed for now. He told me he wont because it might turn my carpets colors, 'what he can do for me is give me the deep cleaning for (now) $200'. Now I was pretty mad. If this is a reputable company at all, should they not set some sort of price list, or do they let the unqualified staff charge whatever the hell they want. I just thought to myself 'is this a scam' he would have probably only shampooed my carpets and charged 300 anyways. Maybe they should set up some sort of assessment before they just show up to someones house throwing random prices around ripping people off. It was a waste of my time and a waste of theirs. The way the employee talked to me was rude and it made me feel like they saw me as a sucker.
