I would like to warn enyone who is ever tempted to lease a pub from Punch Taverns to think twice.It cost me approx £30000, and I know several other people who have been ripped off by this company. You are tied into a bussiness, they then charge 30% more that the wholesale price for products, they monitor everything you sell, then fine you if you try and make a profit. You have no control whatsoever. I was forced to refurbish a pub that had been in very poor decorative order for years, I had been there 18 months. I was forced to enter into a cash in hand contract with a decorator, that was freindly with the local manager. When I refused to pay, I was thretened by the contractor, and thretened by the Punch Manager. I was told if I did not pay up Punch would not let me sell my lease and they would make me go banckrupt and take it anyway. Be very carefull. I have tried to get someone to take this seriusly but no one will. They are just villans, they were under investigation, by house of commons in 2003 but got away with it. Keep well away
