Pressure

Honestly I can't stand all the pressure my school, family, and everyone around me gives me to do well and get good grades. I'm expected to get all A* in 11 higher level subjects next year, meaning for the next year I will literally be killing myself studying. Although less important, it feels suffocating having to 'perfect' myself to everyone else's standards. I can't relieve my stress with anything and even though this might sound drastic, I have thought about killing myself. But I believe life is God-given and so suicide isn't an option. Cutting, sports, singing, sleeping, drinking, smoking- nothing works anymore. I don't even know if I'm just undergoing typical teenage angst or if I'm actually depressed.

I'm not gonna say that I know how you feel, cause everyone is different but what you described is what I'm going through at the moment. I went through the acting out, drinking alcohol, even cutting (which I still do occasionally, but sick of people judging me because of my scars) The only thing that's getting me through is the thought of my future life. I've decided the career that will make me happy, and is also a high enough standard to please my family. I found out what grades I needed and what qualifications. Before I was expected to get A/A* for everything, but then I found out that for what I want to do I don't need all of thoses grades, it lightens the load by a lot and I'm getting through with the thought of making myself a happy life that I can control.

You're young, everyone feels pressured to make huge life changing decisions at your age. And you are pressured. It's unfair but it's true. The thing is, you have less choices if you don't get good grades. If you don't know what you want to do, it's understandable your parents want you to do well at everything so when you do decide, you have as many options as possible. If you know for sure what you want, tell your parents and focus all your energy on being good at it. Tell you one thing for free. I'm just over thirty and I'm only figuring out now what it is I want from my life. I have choices because I've studied and worked hard all my life. It pays off.

Please calm down. And relax. Don't think negative it will only affect you. So think be positive. Share your problems with your family hope you will get the solution.

Don't feel too bad. Let your parents, teachers or friends know how you feel. You decide who you want to be, not the people around you. Take a stand and fight for it. If you're feeling stressed, it's good to find an expressive outlet, like a private blog or a journal, or even just talking to someone. Don't kill yourself. Go seek professional help. Find inspiration in the actions of others and keep your chin up. If people insist that they meet THEIR standards, well, you have two middle fingers to point, an ass to moon, and an arsenal of swear words, right? Take a stand. Good luck. God bless you.
