I agree with both posters. The money may be tempting to keep but someone lent you that money in good faith and for you to snub them by not paying it back is wrong and greedy of you. They helped you out at a time when you needed it most. Perhaps they need the money now. Karma is a bitch if she doesn't like you! Step up and do the right thing. You'll feel better about it and if you ever need help again, you won't be labeled as the person who doesn't pay back their debts and you'll be left stranded high and dry - exactly where you would deserve to be.
you better do, you may save $5,5k here but will loose a lot more somewhere else. The world goes round. But if you pay it, you might get a lot more back from somewhere else
