While working at Oceanside Nursing Center, Tybee Islan, Ga I was attacke by a resident in a Lock-down mental ward. Although I was hired as an Administrative Assistant, I had to fill in as 'Activities Director' with absolutely no certification or training. An irate resident threw a pot of scalding hot coffee on me, resultig in first degree burns. Within 15 minutes I was fired by the Administrator, Amro Amir. I filed a Police report with the TIPD, who basically did nothing (except slander my name by depicting me as an unstable drug addict). My employer refused to give me my seperation papers, then contested my unemployment. Oceanside actually went as far as to have three employees make statements that I vilolated a residents rights, slammed doors and threw furniture against the wall. To top it off, the Field Representative from the Department of Labor basically called me a liar and had the Audiciaty to aske me what I did to provoke the resident!! I have every intention of sueing this facility and I am in the process of hiring an attorney. I have filed an appeal regarding my unemployment and feel confident that I will win. By the way, my employer is ALSO claiming I was never attacked, FYI, I have documentation that says otherwise. Not only did they send me to a clinic THEY HAD ONE OF THEIR EMPLOYEESS DRIVE ME, AT MY INSISTENCE! Thank you for letting me vent. Despite all this I have the loving support of my mother and many friends who have shown their support and concern. Oceanside's reputation speaks for itself (just log on the website and see the mulitiple violations they have been sited for). It is common knowledge on Tybee Island what type of operation they are running, A SMAKE PIT!! Once again, thank you for allowing me to tell my story. I hope everyone has a blessed day.
