Norton Virus Protection & Symantec IT

I am writing to express my anger at the 1. the poor quality of Norton Antivirus Protection and 2. the completely useless service provided by Symantec. I have Rogers as my internet provider and when they offered free Norton Antivirus Protection as a part of their service I was impressed. I thought 'if Rogers is offering this, they must believe it is the best available', so I removed my old virus protection and downloaded Norton. In no time I started getting popups galore which would interrupt my work on the computer as well as just plain annoying. I might mention I did not get popups before and I did have my popup blocker on. I ran Norton and no virus was identified but the Popups continued to the point it now began shutting down various applications, the internet as well as 'freezing' the computer. Finally I called Rogers who gave me the name & number of 'Symantec', an IT firm who could clean my computer remotely. I called them and followed instructions while I was on the phone with them to allow them remote access and clean the computer. I was on the phone for hours with their technician and at the time I finally could not wait any longer, I was told that I could leave and they would complete their work in my absence. When I came back I was assured the computer had been cleaned of any virus. WRONG! As soon as I started using the computer, the POPUPS were back. Did I tell you this service cost %69.95 US? I called them back and told them I still had the same problem and again we repeated the same exercise as we did on my first call with the same results--still the popups. Without going into all the details I will tell you I tried this firm a total of five times, every time I was assured the virus had been removed, and every time they did not clean the computer. Finally I contacted another IT firm and they took 5 minutes (maybe less) to identify the virus and then cleaned my computer remotely. I removed Norton and installed a different Antivirus protection. I have not had a POPUP since. I felt like I had been ripped off by Symantec and called them and requested a refund because they were unable to solve the problem and I told them that another firm was able to do it in 5 minutes. Every time I called Symantec, I was on the phone with them well over an hour. I was told that they cannot give a refund and even though I went to the top of the 'management ladder' with my complaint, they steadfastly refused to give a refund. I later learned from another IT professional that the 'inside humor' in the business about Norton is 'if you have Norton, you have a virus'. I further learned that Symantec is a part of Norton, Not only was Norton unable to detect this virus, their IT people could not do it either.
