Hello everyone. I am about to post an overview of what was said, according to journalists, at the Summit. 118 representatives for the nonaligned nations were there. This will be a great example of what Bush has done to the reputation of America; a good example of how he is destroying us and making us look like evil incarnate, making everyone in the world hate us. Reps of 118 Nonaligned Movement Nations condemned Israel's attacks on Lebanon and supported peaceful resolution to the US-Iran nuclear dispute, a 92 page declaration also condemned terrorism, but said that 'movements for self-determination and battles against foriegn occupiers should not be considered terrorism.' They declared democracy a universal value but agreed that 'no one country or region should define it for the whole world', and defended the rights of countries like Venezuela and other countries to determine their own forms of government. This meeting included Raul Castro, acting pres. of Cuba during Fidel's illness, and the leaders of Iran, North Korea, Zimbabwe, and others. Raul said that 'a bellicose America has made the world more dangerous' North Korea's Kim Yong Yam said that his nation 'would not need even a single nuclear weapon if there no longer existed a US threat' Kim also said that 'the US is responsible for the lack of world peace, it has failed to respect the soveriegnity of other nations and destroyed the international order'. The US declined invitation to the summit. Iranian Pres. Mahmoud Amadinejad said 'Why should people live under the nuclear threat of the US?' At this summit Pakistan and India decided to resume peace talk, Bolivia tried to reassure an angry Brazil, North Korea defended it's weapons program, Sudan rejected UN peacekeeping missions in Darfur, and Iran defended it's right to pursue nuclear energy and continues to cooperate with IAEA (this org., the IAEA told us that Saddam had no WMD's and they were right). Tariq al-Hashimi of Iraq asked the movement for a statement calling on all countries to stop interfering in Iraq, he said that 'life has degenerated' in his country and Iraqis are suffering because 'a war machine has destroyed the infrastructure' We are so hated right now it's ridiculous. Bush has got all of our troops stretched out all over the world, he's left no protection at home, he has everyone hating us, and he has killed our once powerful economy. We are on the same track that the Soviet Union was before it ceased to exist.
