My best friend's brother is driving his family insane

I have tried what I consider my best, to persuade my close friend that his brother is tearing the family apart. I think they're already aware of that, but I truly believe that his brother would be best in a psychiatric unit, where they're adept at dealing with his problems, yet my friend insists that his family will deal with my friend's brother nonetheless. I am aware that I may have committed the sin of pride, by presuming that I could convince my friend that sectioning his brother would be an altruistic act, but I don't know what else to do. I am ashamed to have betrayed my friend, and I am ashamed to have tried to convince my friend that I apparently know better. Sinner that I am, please, forgive me, and help me in this situation.
