medical lab fiasco

When you go to your local lab for routine bloodwork, watch out. I went to my designated lab, Lab Corps in Las Vegas, NV. The lab BXBS requires. Somehow, they let my bloodwork leave the premises with the wrong courier and go to Quest Diagnostics. This bloodwork also had a copy of my medical insurance as I discussed this with 'Steve' the billing supervisor. He said basically, 'Too bad, we got your blood and processed it even though that was a great copy of your insurance that we don't accept. You'll have to pay up. We'll give you till Dec. 5th to sort it out with your insurance.' The bill was over $314. BXBS sent me a check for $78 as it was not my fault that they processed my specimen, and that is the rate of payment that they will pay had it been the right lab. That still leaves me with a bill of $236.65. I filed a complaint with JCAHO, Joint Commissions on Accreditation of Health Care Orginizations. I did not get a degree in Health Information Technology for nothing. They have not seen the last of me yet...to be continued..
