lying mechanic/garage owner

I took my car into a unfamiliar garage recently, to check out a noise on my car every time I drove round a bend. The mechanic sat in my car as I drove for approx 2 miles drive to check it out with me. My car was booked in to go on an inspection lift to confirm problem and whilst my car was in the garage, the mechanic used my car/petrol to do of his personal errands. This man clocked up 16 miles on my car and feels that it is ok to do it without my permission. It has come to my notice today that another local told me that his sister had her car in the same garage and he took it off somewhere and incurred a speeding ticket for the car owner. The car owner was forced to take the mechanic/garage owner to court to force him to pay the speeding ticket. Anyone got any ideas on how to tackle him, LEGALLY and without incurring any fees of any discription, other that reporting him to the Trading Standards Office, which I have already done?
