loud train whistle

Just moved into our recently purchased home and find that train runs through area far more than was told it would! Am very upset by Very Loud train whistle required on approach to cross-overs where drop down gates are not present. Seems some Engineers intentionally lean on horn more than others. I do understand the need to warn all traffic of a train coming but there is a need to restrain from too long a blast of whistle/horn.
