I phoned Direct Line Ins to change the cover to my new vehicle as my old one was scrapped. They quoted me extra and an admin charge but never sent a confirmation cover note. They have just sent me a renewal for the car I told them I had scrapped. They admit I phoned them but deny any knowledge of my new vehicle. Apparently I have been driving uninsured for 10 months. When I complained they said that they would change my renewal notice to my new car and it would cost me £11.55 admin charge plus extra because of a change in spec. When I suggested they might like to refund the premiums for the 10 months I was 'uninsured' they said that if I had had a claim they would have covered me!! I bet they would. Just had a quote from a different company and saved my self £130.00. I think Direct Line Ins are incompetent and money grabbing.
