In my county CPS agents are paid 11 dollars an hour, have a caseload more apt for three agents, and are told they 'need to do more with less.' I am not even kidding, I went to a meeting where the commissioner actually said that...CPS is a joke, just a few cents the public throws at abused partners/children to make themselves feel better because 'something' is being done. As a cop I can tell you domestic problems are some of the worst calls we get because going into the situation you can practically taste the dysfunction in the air it's so pungent. BUT, you can't do anything. The partners/kids keep quiet and when CPS or whoever does a follow up any 'evidence' of abuse/neglect is gone. 'Just call the CPS' LOL yeah that's the ticket
