I think I have to give up what I love...

I was a modern dancer for years. I trained for 2-5 hours a day and I loved every second. I was even thinking of taking dance on as a career and I was looking at schools to further my training at. Then the hip pain started. It got to the point where I went to the doctor and took some time off from dance. Somewhere along the line, I was told that I could never train with extentions or the same range of movement again. I was devistated. My bone spurs were tearing apart my joint and my tendons were getting stuck inside my joint, slowly distroying them. Fast forward a year and I have gotten through surgery on the joint, where they fixed half the problem (the spurs) and I'm now bellydancing. I cannot not dance. I love to perform, I love going to class, I love the freedom of movement, I love the way I feel when every fades into the music and just the movment takes over and embraces you. Well one year after surgery and my pain levels are starting to sky rocket in that same hip. I'm so scared that this is it. That my body is giving up at 21.

This is no different than an athlete having a career-ending injury on the football field or basketball court. You'll have to find something else that gives you this same level of pleasure in life.

your body's giving you feedback - for you, that chapter of your life, as you knew it, is over. Become a teacher.
