I dislocated my knee and had no heath insurance. The emergency room said I needed to see a othopedic dr. I tried to get an appointment the next day and once they found out I had no insurance they would not see me. I said I would pay cash, The visit was 200.00, but they still wouldn't see me.Finnally a friend got me an appointment with a Dr and I was told i needed surgery to put it back in. I had tried to do it myself for days! The MRI which cost 1600.00 showed the cartlidge was blocking it so I coiuld of pulled on it forever and it would just make it worse. The county hospitial would not fix it for me without me paying cash upfront, because they said it wasn't life threating, even thogh out of the 50 people there, i was the only one turned away. I was not allowed to even make payments. As an American tax payer, I pay for the healthcare of the illeagals that were there recieving free heath care, but my pain and productivity was not as importain as the people that that I am paying to help. I spent almost a year in a wheel chair and in terrible pain until I could save up the money for the operation. Nobody would go to a county hospitial and beg for treatment unless they had no alternative. I always thought the county hospitial coulndn't turn you away! Well, Ventura County hospitial does and did! I'm still suffering from the effects of waiting so long to get my knee put back in. Our healthcare system is a mess! I never asked for free healthcare, just time to pay. I am still paying taxes for others to recieve free healthcare while contining to pay my own medical bills.no insurance company will cover me since I had a bout with cancer when I was 29. Insurance is a joke too. You pay forever and when you get sick they drop you and no one will cover you. If I get cancer again I will probably just die.
