Dear Sirs I have been a loyal customer of the Halifax plc for 5 years, I have two bank accounts a credit card mortgage and buildings and contents insurance with you. I run my own business and have a good credit rating; I've always paid my bills if a little late once in a while and I'm willing to accept a reasonable amount of bank charges. However having said that, over the years that I've been with the Halifax I've been charged £1742 so far. I have tried to find out the exact reason for all of them but apparently you don't keep records of that. The final straw came two weeks ago when two charges came out of my account sending it over my limit thus triggering a 3rd charge which was followed by a letter the next day in forming me that I will be charged £30 per month because I was over the limit. That has cost me £150 for one mistake! You seem to have 8 different figures that you like to charge £28, £30, £35, £39, £60, £65, £69, £90 none of theses charges ever come with any clue to how you got to any of these figures or a brake down of what its for. How can you justify this sort of money for 2 minutes of admin? (YOU CAN'T) It is an outrage and I will make it my mission to make as much bad publicity about the Halifax as possible unless I get MY MONEY back! The Halifax feel that it is fair and reasonable to charge there own customers £39 three times a day for slipping up. Once an account has gone over its limit you still let payments go out where most banks charge £20 and stop further payments, you charge £39 £39 £39 leaving me £117 over my limit so the same process starts the next day, added to that you will gratefully take the money when there is none in the account so that you can charge me again, and so on. This chain reaction charging policy has been the bane of my financial life for the last few years. This policy is designed to hit people when already in financial trouble.
