Cash payment into closed

My friend deposited £1000 into my closed account with the wrong sort code on 28/09/06 into Natwest Bank. As I am no longer natwest customer, they are spinning me round and round. I have been calling them 6 to 7 times a day and I was also given Natwest Bank, Southhall branch telephone number where my friend deposited the money to check with them by myself. I cannot understand how can they take cash from a customer who has the correct name, correct account number, wrong sort code with a closed account. On my daily inquries they have a standard reply that they are chasing the money.
