Found Money

At one point in "college" (that is, taking a class or two), I lived in a real sketchy neighborhood. One of the houses was clearly a drug house. There were people constantly going in and out of the house, thuggy looking people on the porch, etc. Two older guys would, occasionally, go into a shed that was attached to the garage (this is relevant later). One night the place got busted. A crazy number of cops and what I assumed were DEA or some kind of drug task force officers were there. I watched from my deck and could see them going through the house, and they went into the garage and looked through the cars, etc. (the cars ended up getting towed away) They never even went into the little shed. They took all kinds of stuff out of the house. A few days later, the house was still abandoned. There was still crime tape, etc. I went into the shed. It was not even locked. The shed had no floor - it was like some kind of cheap POS you might buy at Home Depot and sort of rest up against a garage or the side of your house. Sure enough -- under boxes of paint and other shit there were some boards covering a hole. In the hole were a few shoe boxes stuffed with cash. I took it. It was almost $70,000. I never told a soul (until now). Not telling anyone was much harder than taking it!
