fordi focus failure

i have a 2006 ford focus and driving with my 2 kids 2 and 6, my ignition shut off and my steering locked in place causing me to jump a curb and almost ending in a ditch. Waiting for 2 hours for a tow truck, we towed to the nearest dealership to take a look at it. Keeping in mind the guy tells me he has never heard of that happening. The next day ford calls me and says they cant help me to fix it and it will cost me $2,000 to fix it. Frustraing cause this is our only car that we have to get around, i have took it upon my self to pull a consumer reprt on the ford focus and there is hundreds of people that have had the same problem, what is it going to take for someone to DIE BEFOR FORD DOES ANYTHING ABOUT THIS. THERE HAS BEEN NO RECALLS OF WHAT SO EVER I PLAN ON MAKEING THIS A ISSUE
