Enterprise plc

Enterprise plc was instructed to replace gas supply pipes to my neighbourhood. After weeks of work the working crew arrived outside my house. The representative of the work crew said the digging would not affect my gas supply, entry to my home or access to my garage. On Friday afternoon the crew packed up and left for the weekend. I subsequently discovered on Saturday that I had no gas supply. Neither I nor my neighbours were told of any disruption. When I contacted the company's office I was told they were already aware ( had had other complaints ) of this and admitted it was their fault. However, nothing would be done for me despite the fact that I am a disabled pensioner and I would just have to do without till after the weekend. I was further told that it is not the company's policy to consider claims or payments for disruption of service due to their incompetance. I phoned them again on Sunday to ask if/when I could expect a supply of gas. I was told a crew was on it's way and I would DEFINATELY be reconnected that day. The crew eventually arrived and confirmed I would DEFINATELY have a gas supply that day. At 2:30 in the afternoon the crew packed up and left after telling me they didn't have a part and so no gas supply. They had had since 9:30am to get the part. The fact that I am due to go into hospital in a week or two for surgery, that I am already taking the maximum level of medication to alieviate pain and that the only way I could relax without the pain is in a hot bath made no difference whatever. They said 'We will not be connecting your gas supply until we get the part.' ( The part is a copper pipe fitting which is available from a national plumber's merchant over the counter. However, even though they knew it was needed they didn't bother to go for it until after closing time. The outcome so far? - a third night without hot water or gas hob and another night without sleep due to pain which I am suffering due to Enterprise plc's total and absolute inefficiency. How an organization so slap-dash, uncaring and incompetent can possibly be trusted with our utilities amazes me. Further to this story - is that the instruction not to compensate or cover my expences came from one of their directors who would not even speak to me - a mere consumer. What can you do if you happen to be in my position? -- Seemingly nothing!!! If they mess you about, keep you waiting without a gas supply for an indefinate time, make promises and don't keep them, refuse to take telephone calls, instruct staff not to give out contact details it's just too bad. You can't go anywhere else....And they know it!!! After all, we're only the consumers paying their wages.
