Dell Computer Company

My complaint centers around the Dell computer company. It is my opinion that they should not be doing business in the United States of America. Their customer service is the worst I have ever experienced in my life. A couple months ago I had the misfortune of buying a brand new Dell dimension desktop E510 computer. It was advertized as having great capability with fast processing speed. When I received it and put it in use I found it to be slower than an eight year old Gateway computer I had just replaced. After many long sessions waiting on hold for technicians and being given the constant run around I was promised a new modem. The day I was promised the new modem I told them I could hook the modem up myself and to just send it. The guy in India said he would have to cancel a work order to have someone come to my home. He was off the phone for about five minutes and came back to say the work order had been canceled and the replacement modem should be on it's way. Weeks passed and no modem. I tried recontacting Dell several times and was given nothing but a run around. After about four weeks I had the misfortune of talking to one of their India experts at technical support and they told me the modem hadn't been sent because they didn't know if I wanted it installed or not. I was blowed away because we had been through this all the very first day when the guy supposedly cancelled the service order and was sending the modem. I told them, 'just send the modem.' I waited five days then contacted them again. After an hour or so of being passed from one person who couldn't understand English to several others I was told, 'well you just ordered the modem a few days ago....it takes up to ten days for it to arrive.' I said, 'what about the modem that was promised over a month ago?' They didn't know anything about that. Now almost two months after this all started I get a message on my answering machine from Dell stating, 'the reason they haven't resolved my case is because they don't know if I want them to come and put the modem in or just send it.' How many times do they have to be told the same thing? When I called them back the person wasn't there...of course... and you're told to just leave a message and they will get back. It's a never ending vicious circle where they do nothing for you, just keep you out there hanging. I would encourage anyone reading this to never buy a Dell product of any kind and NEVER ever buy any extended warranty service. It's non- existent. I don't believe my problemns with this company will ever be resolved to my satisfaction and feel ripped off by them. Maybe suing them in small claims court is the answer. I just wish I could warn more people before they make the mistake of buying a Dell like I did. Once they have your money they are gone.....
