I wanted someplace to get some exercise. Checked out Curves & joined. I really like the Curves circuit training. The problem? Women who use the facility for socializing. I'd like to be able to get my exercise first thing in the morning, but the regulars that are there at that time are all a bunch of yakers. If you aren't familiar with Curves, it consists of about 15 different resistance machines set up in a circle with stations in between where you can walk or jog in place or whatever. Theres music playing & a recorded voice that cues you to change stations every so many seconds. I've found that this can be very affective if you put enough effort into it & keep your heart rate elevated. You can get a really good work out & go around the circuit 3 times in less than 45 minutes. At any rate thats what I've been paying my 29.00 each month for. But why should I have to put up with women who lollygag around on the machines, ignoring the cues to move & disrupting my workout??? They're so busy chatting they don't hear the recording telling them to change stations. Why don't they go meet somewhere else & sit on their butts & talk? Its not like they're getting anything accomplished anyway. If you're putting any effort into your exercise you wouldn't be able to carry on these long winded conversations. Why does this bother me? Cause they're in my FREAKIN WAY!!!! I either have to wait til they move, which, done repeatedly makes my work out take too long, or I can bypass them & skip the machines they are on, which is not a complete workout for me & anyway it'll just put me closer to the next bunch of socializers. ( they generally cluster in groups of 2 & 3 ) Today they even had the nerve to turn the volume down on the recording so it wouldn't bother them. I'm going to check out another facility. If I see the same type of behavior I'll have to look into some other gym.
