I am going to paste my e-mail to First Financial Asset Management and their response....... From: Tami XXXXX [mailto:xxxxxxxxxx@hotmail.com] Sent: Saturday, September 16, 2006 1:54 PM To: First Financial Asset Management Subject: Regarding account XXXXXXX E-mail sent on: Saturday 9-16-06, Monday 9-18-06, Tuesday 9-19-06, Wednesday 9-20-06, Thursday 9-21-06, and Monday 9-25-06 To Whom it May Concern: I called on Saturday, September 16, 2006 to inform this collection agency that Todd XXXXXX XXXX for account number XXXXXXX had died on August 29, 2006. Todd XXXX was a very dear and close friend of mine that had a severe drinking problem and that is what finally took his life. I have seen him go through 4 jobs in the past 4 years and three treatment centers. The past two years he has worked a total of two weeks. His last job took him to XXXXXXX, XX out of desperation in October of 2005 and was without a job and homeless by the end of November 2005. The beginning of this year he spent a month in the hospital due to alcohol abuse and was homeless untill he was taken into a treatment center with the Salvation Army in XXXXXXXX, XX the middle of April 2006. I wish I could remember the name of the person that answered my call....but I have never heard such disrespect and disregard for feelings in my entire life! My soul purpose for calling (this hasn't been my first phone call to a collection agency on Todd's behalf and I'm sure it will not be the last) was so companies could stop spending/waisting money on something that will never be collected such as mailing expense, employee time spent, legal fees, etc... Todd left behind two ex-wives with a child each that have not received child support in a very long time. The person I spoke with started getting beligerent when I tried explaining this to him. I told him Todd never lived at the address that was on file but asked me if he could use it as a mailing address because he was in and out of treatments and shelters. So this person, employee of First Financial Asset Management said they would cut the collection amount in half and I only had to pay $1,500.00. I was not married to Todd I remined him, that Todd was a very dear friend of mine that (and I had to remind him again) died on August 29th. He said the company had to collect the money in any way possible. I said excuse me????? His response was that if Todd meant something to me they would come after me for my 'little boy friends' debt!!!! Ok at that point I was furious and did something I normally do not do..........I said '**** you' and hung up the phone. A couple minutes later I called back and asked for a manager/supervisor and again did not get the name. But I tried to calm myself and explained the situation again and how angry I was about the previous phone call. I explained that I understood the company had to deal with people that lied to them often, I can understand that, but the first employee I spoke to was OUT OF LINE and the phone call shook me up beyond belief! Todd's obituary can be found on-line with a XXXXXXXX, XX Newspaper. It was published on August 31, 2006. I am going to pursue what the employee said to me and if there are any gounds to what he said or if a collection company can even go after Todd's mother or three sisters. Todd was a 48 year old single-homeless man. I work for a small law firm and will be asking one of the partners on Thursday (Had knee surgery and am off work through Wednesday) about this including if I can file a complaint against this collection company. Regards, Tami
