Carpet cleaning

I made an appointment with a local carpet cleaning company for 8 a.m. on Monday, they didn't show up, no phone call, etc. When I called them late Monday afternoon, they shrugged me off saying I guess the truck broke down and they were not particularly interested. What recourse do we have, I lost a days work and here I sit.
