can't unsubscribe to email

I am so tired of receiving hundreds of unsolicited ads and emails from companies and sites that buy my email address on lists provided by other companies. I signed up for a sweepstakes at Publishers Clearing house online and the next thing I know I am receiving literally hundreds of emails from other sources for everything from mortgages to cheap drugs on line. It takes hours to open each one and then TRY to unsubscribe from their lists. Federal las says they must provide that option, only many of these sites do not actually accept your 'unsubscribe' request, or they make it so difficult that after entering and entering the requested information, you just give up. IWon is one such site. They give you the instructions to have your name removed from their mailing list, but no matter how many times you complete the request...it doesn't 'go through'. There is also virtually no way to contact them. Sites like this should be prosecuted for fraud.
