My... 'Ex' Boyfriend died. He comitted sucide. He did it because of me. Beause i've broken up with him over 3 times. I thought we could work. So did he. We tried. I wondered why he wanted to commit suicide THIS time. And he told me before he did it. "I've tried before.I was in the hospital, didnt wanna worry you." I cried so hard. I lvoed him so much. I wanted it to work, i really did. But things kept getting in the way. Guys, girls, moms, dads. We were like Rachel and Ross. Always on a break. Cheating? Nonexistent, cause we were on that break. Before he died, that last text i got... "I love you. But im not kidding. Goodbye." Never heard from him again. He was 3 years older than me, but he still did it. I love him, and i try not to cry about it. But imagine someone dying because of you. I feel like i murdered the kid, I basically did. I'm sorry, Aaron. I love you to, no lie. Goodbye.

THIS His issues went beyond the scope of your relationship with him. His depression and suicide were the result of something out of your control. It is sad to see this happen to someone but the above person essentially did the right thing. You can leave them and tell them why - like they have issues and need to resolve them - but blaming yourself for his/her issues makes about much sense as staying with him/her under the false belief that you can change them rather than he/she changing herself.

he didn't die because of you. telling you that just makes you feel guilt and shame and regret and isn't something that anyone who truly loves you would ever deliberately make you feel. i had a man tell me he was going to kill himself after i broke up with him. i rang all the right people to bash his door down before he completed, but never spoke to him again.
