I've lost my job a few months back due to heavy outsourcing. My wife is pregnant. I finished all my savings. And I've got a total sum of $17000 in debts including credit card bills to pay off at the earliest. No idea how I'm going to cope up with these. Trying hard but not getting a job either. What do I do now? CLUELESS.

That's nothing. I have massive amounts of student loans, 12 maxed out credit cards I don't know how I'm going to pay my bills I live paycheck to paycheck It is life bro. It's going to be fine, make your wife a milkshake and go rub her feet These are real world problems but this too shall pass

There are a lot of things to do if you really want. Usually people has the mentality if they are in trouble they should get something better or equal immediately to pull them out of the hell hole. But honestly this will be difficult even for the well connected and rich people nowadays once they fall off. Don't mislead by the idea you got experienced or good education you should wait for better. A good cowboy will not turn away a donkey if he can't find a horse at least it can carry some load! Cut off all unnecessary spending and to the minimum. If you got valueable stuffs, this is the time where you shouldn't get too sentimental about it and pawn / sell it. You need to calculate spending and gaining. Find part time / weekend odd jobs. Sometimes part time / odd jobs will help to give your opportunity to meet people and venture into new ideas. Might help. For your debts, you should prioritized. Finally, I'll say this it's a struggle. It won't be easy but it is not the end of the world.

I'm in the same boat ... Pregnant wife, unemployed, accumulating debt with student loans (months away from a Masters Degree) and job prospects are not as bright as they should be. Faith in God is the only thing that keeps me from drowning in depression. California is not what it is cracked up to be, and neither is advanced education.
