beware of insurance tactics

Thunderbird Insurance in Victoria B.C. I paid my house insurance premium in full in June 2006. I agreed to insured my property for half a million-replacement value. About a month after I paid premium the insurance company decided that half a million might not be enough and raised my premium without telling me about it. In October I received a letter from them informing me that I still own them some money. When I called and asked for explanation I was tolled that my insurance went up because they raised replacement value. I didn't agree with their new rate so I canceled my insurance with them. Well they still charge me the higher premium from my refund money. They insured my property against my knowledge or wish and they paid themselves. What kind of business is that?
