2002 Explorer XLS

In 2004, I purchased a 2002 Explorer XLS w/16000 miles on it. Today is 2006 and I have to purchase a TRANSMISSION and a DPSE Valve which I contacted Ford Motor and the dealer and was told that I have to pay for these parts which will cost over 2600.00. My wife pushed me to buy this SUV and now I wish I had not. I have a 1992 Prizm and it is still running strongly. I, nor any of my college children will buy Ford products every again and I will tell everyone I know about this. Ford and the dealer could have offered to pay at least half of the repairs but they did not even offer. AND they wonder why we buy foreign cars!!!
