where can i go to meet kindred spirits?

I am looking for an organization where I can meet people with similar interests to me. I've joined several dating sites but it didn't work out for me. I found the men only wanted one thing ( sex ) so I want to find a different site. I am in my late 20's. The women I work with, who are mostly single mothers, would also like to meet interesting people and build lasting relationships.
