What do bible thumpers expect?

I'm curious, what do those overzealous bible thumpers really expect when they go on & on about how god will solve all your problems & that if you'd only start focusing on the lord instead of what's wrong in your life you'll be a happier person? Do they not realize how obnoxious & unhelpful they're being? I could tolerate the obnoxiousness, but when you have no solution other than "ignore your problem, love Jesus!" its clear they have no useful advice. What is their ultimate goal? I doubt anyone has ever been converted this way.

Thank you for this message. I am baptist but I agree that some people literally cram the religion down people's throats. We are expected to 'share the gospel' but it just is taken too far sometimes. And when you reject them from too much toleration, they condemn you and say 'May god have mercy on your soul.' I understand your viewpoint on this issue perfectly. I am only going to finalize by saying that, although they are very assertive of their religion, they truly only want you to be open and trust others i guess. I, for one, wouldn't cram my religion down others throats. Rather, I would want them to know that, regardless of their affilitiation with god or not, I would be open to hear their problems and hope they trust me enough. Hope this helps.

Bible thumper types ARE very annoying. They want to cram their version of religion down your throat without considering the possibility that their way is not the only way. OTOH, a bad presentation of a truth does not make the truth into a falsehood. I will not answer the door to any religious group, but I do know that God exists and watches over me, but that is between me and God.

The point is to give consideration to a greater range of options, and break away from only thinking within your own circle of reasoning. God entails much more than most people are willing to think about, and provides a solid philosophical basis for interpreting and understanding life and moral decisions.

Sorry if someone interrupted your search for posts about incest, child molestation and beastiality. After all, that seems to be the dominant theme on this site, and unimaginative consistency is a refuge for many.
