Vonage Rip Off

Beware of Vonage. Vonage has a great advertising campaign about how much money you will save. Well, it just cost me 186.92 to NEVER use the system. They advertise the first month is free. Well, except for the fact that they charge 61.37 for the unit they send you. A week or so after I received the Vonage package, my cable service was interrupted. This pointed out to me that if my only phone was also tied to the cable service, I would have no phone connection and no internet (modem)connection, so I did not install the service. A Vonage representative with a foreign accent contacted me wanting to help me install the unit. I told him I was going to send it back. He told me to call customer service and gave me a number. I did. The only problem with that was you can only call to cancel the service not 24/7 as they advertise, but only certain hours M-F. I made several calls, but was never able to make contact until today, October 23. The date on the letter inside my unit is August 22, which means I got the unit sometime after the 22nd of August. Today is October 23. I was billed 18.58 on September 22. So much for a free month. Then I was billed again $19.48 on October 22. SINCE I did not call to cancel within the first 30 days, I would be charged a cutoff fee of $39.00. The girl I talked with insisted that I had the service over 90 days. I have looked on the calendar and have not been able to in any way force August 22 to October 23 to become 90 days. In addition, there is a cutoff charge of $39.00 to end the service. How this turned into 87.49 I am not sure, but it has cost me $186.92 to check out Vonage. If you have money to p-away, by all means sign up with Vonage.
