Verizon does not care about fraud

I originally called MCI/Verison Web Phone 800 # on 10-16-2006 to ask about charges to my credit card (I did not have an account with them & had checked my CC on line). I was informed that someone had opened and account on 10-6-2006 with my information. I explained that the account was not opened by me and that it was a fraudulent use of my credit card. I was told they would close the account to prevent future charges. Today (10-20-2006) I checked my CC on line and found another charge from them on 10-18-2006. I called and talked to a person. He told me that a form was sent to their (Verizon) fraud dept and they had not yet acted on it. I explained the severity of what was going on and asked to be transferred to the fraud department. I was told “there is no direct contact with the fraud department”. I then asked to talk to a supervisor and was told one would call me back shortly. I called my CC company and went through all of this with them. I then cancelled the CC and the CC company is now handling their side of it as a fraudulent usage of my card. I waited 1 hour and called Verizon back. I got the same agent I dealt with before. I told him that I wanted to close the account. I was told I could not because it had been sent to the fraud department. I once again asked to speak to a supervisor immediately. I was placed on hold for about 3 minutes and then told there were other calls ahead of me and that the supervisor would call me back. I asked how the account was opened. I was told via the web. I asked what information was needed. I was told, Name, Address, CC # & Phone #. I asked if the 3-4 digit security code was required from the CC. I was told they had just recently required that. I asked if was in place on 10-6-2006 and was told ‘No”. I then told the Verizon agent that the CC was cancelled and to tell the supervisor to not call me since it appears they are not interested in addressing fraud cases as priority. I then told them I would be contacting Attorney Generals or who ever it took to address this issue.
