
UNICEL RIP OFFS FOR THE DISABLED

I HAVE BEEN A CUSTOMER WITH UNICEL SINCE THEY FIRST ENTERED THE CELL PHONE BUSINESS AS CELLULAR ONE. I MOVED TO VT AND MY BEST EXPERIENCE QUICKLY BECAME MY WORST. IT ALL IN JANUARY OF 2005 AND HAS QUICKLY BECOME MY WORST CELL PHONE EXPERIENCE. I WANTED THE NEW NOKIA PHONE THAT FLIPPED OPEN WITH A KEYBOARD AND I WANTED THE INTERNET ACCESS THEY ADVERTISED ON TV FOR MONTHS. I CALLED IN EVERY MONTH WAITING TO HEAR WHEN THIS NEW TECHNOLOGY WOULD BE AVAILABLE TO ME. I'M DISABLED AND I WORK WITH OTHER DISABLED PARENTS SO HAVING THIS TECHNOLOGY WOULD BE AWESOME FOR ME. I DO MOST OF MY WORK DIRECTLY FROM MY HANDICPAPPED ACCESSSIBLE VAN. I FINALLY GOT WORD THAT THE PHONE WAS OUT AND WENT TO ONE OF THEIR STORES IN VT TO PURCHASE THE PHONE, THE STORE ISN'T HANDICAPPED ACCESSIBLE SO I ASKED FOR A SALESPERSON TO COME OUT TO ME, NO SUCH LUCK. I CALLED THE OFFICE IN MAINE AND SPOKE WITH A NICE SALES REP, WHO LATER QUITE THE COMPANY. WELL, HE STAYED ON THE PHONE WITH ME FOR 4 HRS TRYING TO GET SOMEONE TO HELP ME, TO NO AVAIL. INSTEAD, THEY CLOSED THE STORE EARLY AND ONLY WAITED A NICE ATTRACTIVE CAUCASIAN WMN. THE SALES REP OVERHEARD ALL OF THIS AND WAS OUTRAGGED,HE PROMISED ME A DISCOUNT ON MY NEW PHONE, THAT I WANTED TO HAVE PRIOR TO MY BDAY. WELL,I SPOKE TO THE REG. MGR AND WAS ASSURED I WOULD GET THE PHONE, BUT THEY DIDN'T HAVE ANY MORE, I WAS PROMISED A DISCOUNTED RATE AND SO ON WHEN THEY COULD GET THE PHONE TO WORK, I WENT TO ANOTHER STORE AND PICKED UP THE PHONE WITHOUT ANY SERVICE. I SIGNED A BLANK CONTRACT BECAUSED I TRUSTED WHAT THE DISTRICT MGR SAID AND FROM THAT POINT ON, MY LIFE WITH UNICEL HAS BEEN NOTHING BUT UNIHELL. EACH TIME I WENT IN TO GET THE PROBLEM CORRECTED IT BECAME WORST AND WORST. I WANTED TO REMAIN A DEVOTED CUSTOMER BELIEVING THEY COULD FIX ALL THE PROBLEMS, WELL THEN MY BILL STARTED TO GO FROM A MERE $52.OO PER MTH TO A HAPPY $893.00 AND I WASN'T EVEN GETTING MY BILLS, THE MORE I COMPLAINED, THE MORE I GOT BLACK BALLED. TO THE POINT WHERE THEY NOTED MY ACCOUNT THAT IF I CALLED IN TO CUSTOMER SERVICE, ALL OF THE STAFF WAS INSTRUCTED TO SIMPLY HANG UP THE PHONE ON ME. KEEP IN MIND, I AM DISABLED, I HAVE A COGNITIVE DISABILITY, SO I GET CONFUSED SOMETIMES AND REQUIRE A LITTLE MORE ATTENTION. I WENT INTO THE STORE TO TRY TO GET RESOLUTION TO THE PROBLEM ONLY TO BE TOLD BY THE DISTRICT MGR THAT I WAS'TRYING TO PLAY HER' I WAS OFFENDED BY THIS COMMENT, YOU SEE, I'M ALSO AFRICAN-AMERICAN. I NEED MY CELL PHONE FOR BUSINESS AS WELL AS EMERGENCIES AND EACH MONTH MY BILL GOES UP, I HAVE NO PAPER BILL TO SAY WHAT I OWE, THEY JUST TELL ME OVER THE PHONE, THEY SHUT MY PHONE SERVICE OFF AND DEMAND 400-500 DOLLAR PYMTS AND IF I DON'T PAY, THEY TURN MY PHONE OFF. I CAN'T ASK ANY QUESTIONS AS TO WHAT I'M BEING CHARGED FOR OR THEY HANG UP THE PHONE ON ME AND REFUSE TO TALK TO ME, TO GET OUT OF MY CONTRACT, WHICH I DIDN'T EVEN NEED SINCE I PAID FOR MY PHONES IN CASH, I HAVE TO PAY THEM 600 DOLLARS.ONLY ONE OF THEIR STORES IS HANDICAPPED ACCESSIBLE SO I WOULD ASK THEIR REPS TO ACCEPT MY CASH AND TOOK THEIR WORD THAT THEY WOULD APPLY IT PROPERLY TO MY ACCT. TO NO AVAIL. EACH PYMT I MADE IN CASH TO ONE PARTICULAR REP, NEVER SHOWED UP ON MY ACCT. I HAVE BEEN BLACKBALLED BY THIS COMPANY AND RIGHT NOW I HAVE A 800 DOLLAR CELL PHONE BILL, WHICH I KNOW I DID NOT USE. I CAN'T CALL TO ASK QUESTIONS BECAUSE THEY WON'T TALK TO ME, I REQUESTED INFORMATION ABOUT THEIR BOARD OF DIRECTORS AND UPPER MGMT TO HELP ME, BUT THEY REFUSE TO GIVE ME THIS INFORMATION AS WELL, IF YOU ARE HAVING PROBLEMS WITH UNIHELL AND YOU HAD SOMEONE HELP YOU RESOLVE THEM. PLEASSSSSSSSSSSSE LET ME KNOW!!!! AS FOR UNIHELL, STAY FAR FAR FAR FAR AWAY...................
