T-Mobile s equipment protection is a scam!

I have had non-stop service with T-mobile for ten years without a problem until now. I paid $6 extra per month for equipment protection on a new $150 cell phone I bought last year. Eight months later I lost the phone now worth about $50. When I called T-mobile for a replacement they transferred me to a company called Asurion Insurance services which requires a police report on a lost cell phone complete with police report #, officer name, badge number, etc. When I call the police they don't answer the phone unless it's a 911 call. Filing a police report on a lost, now used $50 cell phone is a joke and nearly impossible. T-mobile and the insurance company know this. By the way the deductible is $100. My total out of pocket would now be $148 if I could get a police report on a lost phone. I originally paid $150 for the phone. T-mobile representative told me they have had a lot of complaints about having to get a police report on a lost phone but that's the way it is. My advise is strongly not to buy the equipment protection plan from T-mobile. If you lose or break the phone, buy a T-mobile compatible replacement phone on e-bay. You will save the $6 per month worthless insurance and/or not have to sign a new contract for a price break on a new phone. Get a new sim card from voicestream if you lose the phone. T-mobile's Equipment Protection is a scam!
