Theft of Money

During an 8 day stay at the Holiday Inn Portland Airport, 8439 N.E. Columbia Blvd, Portland Oregon, $1.50 was taken from a night stand by housekeeping. Now this may seem an insignifcant amount, but let's examine the entire picture. First, the company I was with had secured 7 rooms for staff, 5 rrooms for participants, and a conference room for 5 days,a considerable amount of money was spent at the Portland Airport Holiday Inn. In each restroom hangs a request from the Holiday Inn Portland Airport to reuse and conserve towels and wash clothes. Most of us don't have a problem with that request. I usually hang the do not disturb sign for 3 or 4 days before removing it and requesting room service. The one time I request room service, a $1.50 was taken from the night stand. I left a note on the door for 2 days afterwords requesting the money be slid under the door , no questions asked. Instead of the money, I got a visit from 2 women in housekeeping on the 3rd day. They said that it was fine for the housekeeper to take the cash as long it was not over $20.00? I tried to explained that it was not the amount, but the idea that the next time it may be something larger. Again they said it was okay by them. The worst part of the whole deal is the black eye the rest of the staff will now have to endure. The front desk and catering personel were great folks. Unfortunately, the housekeeper that took the cash ruined the show for everyone. I suppose if you have a Priority Club Card for Holiday Inn you should expect to have personal items ripped off, and that includes any amount of money. Never again !
