the 'not so' honest sausage

It is with regret that I find myself complaining about a place I actually loved to visit every Sunday with my son and the Sunday papers. The Honest Sausage in Regents Park, London claims to sell everything (down to the paper napkins) in organice form. Wonderful coffee and (used to be) beautiful sausage rolls (or 'the park porker' as it is fondly known). Last Sunday I strolled in and ordered my coffee and park porker and settled down with my young son in his high chair to have an early lunch. The roll I was given fell apart as I picked it up, sadly not through freshness, but through clear age! It was so dry and stale it was barely able to contain the sausage - which I have to say had seen better days itself! When I returned to the counter to complain, I was handed a fresh roll and my old sandwich and it was suggested I move the sausage into a new roll! When I queried why I couldn't have a fresh sandwich the 'manager' informed me (when I suggested that the sausage looked burned and at least 3 days old) that it was infact only 'yesterday's'!!!! I requested my money back and whilst the staff appeared to find it extremely amusing - I am now taking pleasure in spreading the word amongst the regulars as they all became friends and it seems they will be laughing ont he other side of their faces! It's sad - it used to be run by some lovely people and the girls were nothing but smiley and polite! Now they serve day old meat in stale rolls and yes the coffee is still great!
